As a bass player I would say
that it definitely is my best instrument and probably my most loved.
For many years I've wanted to steer clear of being labeled only as a bass
player usually because bass players could only play bass and were
very weak on other instruments. I wanted to be a good bass player
but I also wanted to be know as a good singer, songwriter, keyboardist and guitarist as
well. As I have worked to be competent at all those other areas
it only draws me closer to my love for the bass. With influence from
great bass players listed below their is no need to feel ashamed as a bass player,
these guys were and are awesome. |

Berry Oakley

Clearly my hands down
all-time favorite bass player. Even though he passed on in 1972
I never get tired of hearing him play and he is definitely my biggest
influence. |

Chris Squire

CHRIS SQUIRE
Another big influence.
what a sound, big thick and dominating and so melodic with his bass lines,
almost playing the melody of the songs at times. I bought a
Rickenbacker 4001 because of Squire's sound, little did I know at the time
what a dull instrument it is in it's basic off the shelf form, but a nice
looking bass. |

Wow, he had it all. I
loved the simple but creative sounds he came up with on the bass through
much of the middle years of The Beatles. Still to this day I think of
allot of his phasing when I want to play something appropriate but still
something with allot of character for the bass part. |
